My sister was 6 when she had her first seizure (not that I'm thinking that this is what Bam Bam has), but the doc also diagnosed and treated it like the flu. SO frustrating. Not that Dr's are perfect, but she was a TEXTBOOK case of encephalitis, and she nearly died. Good for you for trusting your instincts. I really hope that he is OK, and I am so sorry that this happened. It rocks you to your core when your babies are sick...
